The Effects and Mechanisms of Family and School Contexts on Adolescent Development and Adaptation

Adolescence is a critical period for physical and mental development. For Chinese adolescents, the "two points and one line" formed by family and school constitutes the main theme of their lives. Traditional sayings and popular topics such as "A tiger father will not beget a dog son," "Can children from poor families still rise to prominence?" and "School is the student's second home" reflect the public's attention to the roles of family and school in adolescent development. Based on this, this research orientation explores these issues from psychological and educational perspectives using quantitative research methods.

This orientation primarily employs quantitative research methods such as surveys and big data, utilizing multidimensional statistical methods including structural equation modeling, network analysis, and machine learning. It investigates the impact of individual and environmental factors within the family and school contexts, as well as the interactions between these factors, on adolescent development and adaptation. The aim is to reveal the mechanisms of these influencing factors and provide empirical support for policy-making in family and school education.

Functional Roles, Development Pathways, and Theoretical Construction of Family-School Collaborative  Mechanisms

The functions of family and school do not exist in isolation. Quantitative research methods allow us to focus on important factors affecting adolescent development and adaptation. However, quantitative research can only clarify the relationships between variables and cannot deeply capture the "experiences and voices" of participants, lacking deeper information. Therefore, to reveal the full picture of the impact of family, school, and their interactions on adolescents, this research team further integrates qualitative research methods to comprehensively analyze the functional roles, development pathways, and theoretical construction of family-school collaborative mechanisms.

This orientation primarily employs qualitative research methods such as interviews, text analysis, and grounded theory. It analyzes the functional roles of family-school collaborative mechanisms in promoting students' comprehensive quality development, enhancing educational effectiveness, and strengthening school-family cooperation. It explores the development pathways of family-school collaborative mechanisms and further summarizes and constructs an integrated model of these mechanisms.

Influencing Factors and Mechanisms of Parental Psychology, Behavior, and Romantic Relationships

Parents, as the main subjects of family and parenting, have garnered extensive attention from researchers regarding their psychology and behavior. This orientation primarily explores the key factors and mechanisms influencing parental psychology, behavior, and romantic relationships. It proposes suggestions for improving parents' physical and mental health and romantic relationships, aiming to enhance the overall health level of the family.
